We spent a long time discussing "belonging" at the Chairs and Directors meeting this morning. It is key for undergraduates to persist in higher ed.

One think I have done in my lab group is to have the group collectively determine the agreements, and then we spend a few minutes at the end of each meeting discussing who exercised aspects of the agreements particularly well. If someone feels that they didn’t do a particularly good job at some aspect, they can also take ownership of that and say so to the group. It has worked really well.

Thanks! Yes, I think it really helped people reflect on them and keep them in mind. It also was a great way for members to provide positive feedback to each other and build community.

Yes, Lisa -- it's like planning for a big project. You can jump into the project but if you take time to create a plan you're going to spend a lot less time later on addressing issues.

We have Employee Learning & Development as a great tool around team building and communication. They already have so many courses prepared around how to lead/work with a team, we just need to get people to take them. How can we incentivize this?
