Efficient Wind Energy Systems: Challenges and Opportunities to Enable a Clean Energy Future
Wind energy is recognized worldwide as cost-effective, environmentally friendly and is among the fastest-growing sources of electrical energy. In this webinar, Professor Lucy Pao will provide an overview of wind energy systems, discuss some of the challenges in the design and operation of wind turbines, and highlight how the performance of these systems has been improved in recent years. She will also discuss some of the continuing challenges and future research that can further facilitate the growth of wind energy.

Lucy Pao
Palmer Endowed Chair Professor in the Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering Department @University of Colorado Boulder
Dr. Lucy Pao is a Palmer Endowed Chair Professor in the Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering Department and a Professor (by courtesy) in the Aerospace Engineering Sciences Department at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her research has primarily focused on engineering control systems, with applications ranging from atomic force microscopes to multi-megawatt wind energy systems. She really enjoys working with her research students and still keeps in touch with earlier research students who graduated more than 25 years ago.
