CU Boulder Computer Science Research Pioneers: Human Computer Interaction
Please join an interactive webinar featuring two pioneers in developing the concepts and methods that formed the influential field of human-computer interaction: Professor Gerhard Fischer and Professor Clayton Lewis. Professors Fischer and Lewis worked together at CU for thirty years starting in 1984, making CU Boulder one of the centers of education and research in Human Computer Interaction, Design, and Lifelong Learning. Both remain active in the field; Dr. Fischer currently is a Professor Emeritus, and Professor Lewis will retire from CU this summer.

Drs. Lewis and Fischer will reflect upon their time together at CU – including the importance of their joint affiliations with the Department of Computer Science, the Institute of Cognitive Science, and other organizations including the Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities, and the ATLAS Institute – and how their work at CU contributed to the progress and current challenges of their fields. They also will comment on the seminal contributions of their colleague, the late Professor Mike Eisenberg.

The session will be moderated by Professor Leysia Palen, founding chair of the Department of Information Science and a faculty member in both Information Science and Computer Science. This webinar is part of a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Department of Computer Science. Learn more about our speakers below.
